Plans are well underway for the 2021 Sarnia Kinsmen Drive-Thru Ribfest, presented by Carpenters Local 1256. Organizers are excited to announce that the 22nd annual, three-day event will be held at Lambton College, June 18-20 Father’s Day weekend.

Unfortunately, due to the Covid Pandemic, the Kinsmenwere unable to host Ribfest last year. However, with the support of Lambton College and local sponsors, they were able to host a Reverse Drive-Thru Santa Claus Parade for the community at Lambton College last December. The event was extremely successful and raised over $18,000 in monetary donations, nonperishable food and teddy bears. All Donations were distributed to the Inn of the Good Shepherd, St Vincent De Paul, the Salvation Army and River City Homeless Shelter.

The Sarnia Kinsmen Club has been serving and building the Sarnia Community for over 90 years and all monies raised, support the community and local charities.

“Our goal this year is to once again be able to host a successful and safe Ribfest on Father’s day weekend for all to enjoy in the safety of their own vehicle or family pods and give back to the community,” said Jack Struck, chair of the Sarnia Kinsmen Ribfest. “We support over 30 charities and initiatives and also organize the Santa Claus and Canada Day Parade Each year. We are all volunteers giving back to our community.”

Guests will be able to drive through and pick up their meals and have the option of taking their meals home or enjoying their meal at one of the family pods. The Family pods will be spread out throughout the college’s multiple parking lots and will consist of a 10 x 10 tent with a table and chairs. Families, who wish to stay, will be able to celebrate father’s day and enjoy their meals in the safety of their own pods.

This event will comply with all health and safety standards and recommendations as set out by Lambton Public health and the Provincial Guidelines.

“Over the years the Kinsmen have raised over $1 million dollars for our community and supported many local initiatives,” said Vicky Praill Special Events and Sports Marketing Coordinator for Tourism Sarnia Lambton. “With the continued support from our community, sponsors and the thousands of visitors that attend each year; they will continue to give back. This year’s event will help raise money for our local charities and upgrades to Baxter Park.”
