Ontario Driving Economic Growth in Rural Communities
Eighty-five projects receiving funding through the Rural Economic Development Program to help boost the local economy
September 10, 2024
The Ontario government is investing more than $5.7 million in 85 projects that are helping create jobs and boost economic development in rural communities across the province. The funding through the recent intake of the Rural Economic Development (RED) program supports projects that diversify and grow local economies, build community capacity and address barriers to economic development and labour force challenges.
“Our government values rural communities throughout the province and this program provides municipalities, Indigenous communities, and not-for-profits with essential funding for projects that contribute to local economic vitality,” said Lisa Thompson, Minister of Rural Affairs. “The Rural Economic Development program is another example of how our government is ensuring small towns and communities across Ontario continue to share in the province’s growth and economic prosperity.
MPP Bob Bailey recently met with Chamber CEO Carrie McEachran to discuss several key issues impacting local businesses and Chamber Members. The conversation centered around supporting the region’s economic growth, addressing concerns from the business community, and enhancing opportunities for small and medium-sized enterprises. Both leaders emphasized the importance of collaboration between government, the business sectors and various agencies within Sarnia Lambton to ensure prosperity for the area.
In addition to discussing business-related matters, MPP Bailey and Carrie McEachran also explored opportunities for Bob to participate in upcoming Chamber events. His steadfast support and involvement are highly valued by the Chamber and its members, as his presence helps foster a stronger connection between local government and the business community. Stay tuned for more details on events where MPP Bailey will be making an appearance!
